What your donations can do

In 2008/2009 Cancer Research UK spent £355 million pounds on world-class research.

Our charity shops play a large role in raising this money and we always need good quality goods to sell.

A single bag could be worth up to £30, so every bag you fill will make a valuable contribution.

Here’s how your bags could add up:

1 bag approximately = £30

  • 20 Bags could be worth £600 – this could cover the cost of one person taking part in a clinical trial testing chemotherapy before and after surgery, and the antibody drug Vectibix, to improve survival for bowel cancer patients.
  • 250 Bags could be worth £7500 – this could buy a special safety cabinet, enabling scientists to carry out crucial experiments with cells in culture, free of the risk of contamination from air-borne germs.
  • 1000 bags could be worth £30,000- this could fund one cancer information nurse for 8 months. Our experienced cancer information nurses provide a confidential service for anyone with concerns about cancer.
